Academic Requirements
For a successful admission to the Joint MA at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands and its partner universities, applicants must meet the minimum admission requirements as listed below:

| previous education | Bachelor's degree in Theology, Religious Studies, Arts (e.g. International Organizations, Middle Eastern Studies, Philosophy), or Social Sciences (e.g. Anthropology, Psychology, Sociology, Political Sciences). If your Bachelor's degree is in a field other than Theology or Religious Studies, you will need to demonstrate that you have completed at least 30 ECTS' worth of courses in these fields or directly adjacent disciplines to indicate your suitability for the programme. Depending on your former study and courses a reading package will be provided. We assume that you are aware of the concepts and theoretical discussions outlined in this literature at the start of the programme. Please note that the level of your previous education will be assessed by the Admissions Office of the University of Groningen due to the selective nature and heavy research focus of the programme. The level of your Bachelor's degree should be comparable to that of the Bachelor's degree granted by the University of Groningen in order to demonstrate your research competences. This level is assessed by the Admissions Office; the Programme Examination Committee does not assess level sufficiency. |
| grade average | on average, grades for Bachelor-2 and Bachelor-3 courses should be 7.5 or higher (on a scale of 1 to 10). The quality of the bachelor's (or master's) thesis is very important. |
